One of the stem borer can attack rice plants. Severe feeding damage near the growing point or above a deep circular cut through the parenchyma at the vegetative stages and reproductive stages. Stem borers can destroy the stage of the plant from seedling to maturity. They feed upon tillers and the central tiller deadhearts during vegetative reproductive stage. The stem borer larvae bore at the base of the plants during the vegetative stage. On older plants, they bore through the upper nodes and feed toward the base.
