  • The rate of attack increases rapidly in the second crop generation and beyond, with early symptoms that are dificult to identify.
  • Apart from being soil borne, pathogens can also survive on plant stump remains and are transmitted through insect vectors.

DAMAGE SYMPTOMS :

  • In young plants, the leaves partially turn yellow and the new leaves that open are shorter than the previous ones.
  • In producing plants, the color of the leaves is pale and there is an accumulation of spear leaves, then the crown starts to die from the oldest with the condition that it still hangs on the stem.
